Got a great question from a reader on our ELEMENTS thread, so I thought it should be a question of it's own - how do you use Word Art? Here's what she said:
Out of curiosity, how do you use wordart? I try to use it but it always feels forced, fake, silly, weird on pages for me.

For me it depends on the word art - sometimes it's a background thing, sometimes it's in place of journaling. Here are two layouts where I used word art that I like a lot:

In the first one the WA works like journaling, in the second one it works more like a title.

I was thinking of other ways to use word art - blend into a background to make a wordy paper, shrink onto a 'button' and use as an element, - it really depends on the words and how they're laid out really.

I'm curious to hear what everyone else thinks!

I like to use it in place of journaling. Mostly if the picture needs no explanation, and the word art just compliments it. I tend to either blend it into the background or merge it with a paper in the kit that I am using.

I do use it occasionally, if I find something that fits and that I like, but I prefer to make my own lol!

I did use it on this page - the word 'wonderful' is word art, the rest of the text is my own.

I like how you added the color and style to the wonderful to make it 3D like that!

I use word art when I have a space to fill - I use it as a design item when I can't find just the embellishment I want.

I have also used words typed all over a plain background paper. I used it less opaque.

Don't have the stuff on my new computer, but I'll post something later.

I use word art for a title, or to fill a space ,i really dont like the new trend to leave white Space!

I think digital scrapbooking is all about the photo and why they make the photos so small is beyond me, and leave a ton of space . I feel in later years someone will say ...........
why is the photo so small?

I'm with you maggie, I don't think the single pic with all that space really 'tells the story'. An occasional page like that for a cover or title page, maybe.

I TOTALLY agree with you. I think the layouts you see with the tiny pic in the corner and not much else is really a waste of space. I want to preserve PICTURES and get them out of the 4x6 size and into a 12x12" page where I can really show them off.

This is more my style:

And I LOVE word art ... I think it makes the page.

I LOVE word art and use it all the time. I think it really makes the page personal. I agree about filling a space, I hate a wasted page with a small picture, a little embellishment on the side and alot of wasted space. To me scrapbooking is all about the picture. But I do think word art can make the page~!
