I’ve been settling some details of my Dad’s estate, who passed away this past October after a long and blessed life. I came across an envelope of pictures that I, my mom, and other relatives had. They entrusted me with them to scan at high resolution to preserve them for the future. And Jenn is going to do a photo book at Shutterfly as a memorial for us and the other relatives to keep. And with the 8th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, I think it’s a fitting memorial to think about loved ones past and present.
It’s only been recently that I’ve felt able to pull that envelope out and look at the pictures – I really miss my dad somethings (tearing up writing this). So for this Foto Friday I wanted to share a few of the better ones that are both Jenn and mine favorites. Thanks for taking a look with me:
It just reminds me of how important photographs and scrapbooking are for the memories they preserve. (See an earlier blog post on that same topic here.) And how important it is for me to get off my lazy you-know-what and scan those pictures!
Which pictures are most valuable to you? Do you have a back-up of them?
Thanks again,

I just love your photos, we have some really old ones from my husbands parents and they are wonderful to look at. And my father also passed this febraury but i haven’t even thought about going through the photos yet.
I am paranoid about loosing photos especially now they are all kept on computers but i do reguarlly make back ups of them.
What a great collection of pics of your Dad, and so precious too.
On this sobering day, it is a good reminder to back up those photos of special people no longer with us.

I lost my dad last year, too. (((hugs))) Those are wonderful photos. You are so very lucky to have them.
Awesome scans, Stan! Loss is never easy, but at least you have wonderful memories to preserve for future generations. {hugs}
Are you on FaceBook? I have a huge PS CS3 question for work with info posted on my FB profile, and was hoping to get any input you might have. If so, I believe I am the only one that pops up when you search Cate Sforza. If not, drop me a note at my gmail (absolutartist1) and I’ll send you the info. Thanks!

Those came out great. So many of the photos I have of my folks are those old yellow faded out ones. You can only do so much with them.
Thanks for sharing!

They make such a beautiful couple Stan. I love the ones of them together. Im sorry for your loss. Those are truly some great photos.
Love your photos. Thanks for sharing them with us.
The good thing with these pictures is you can actually enhance the parts that are blurry or almost scratched out by using applications like Photoshop, right?
