Roxy,

I want to make a comment. I think that some of these pictures are OUTSTANDING - and some, (like this one) - not so much. Nothing to do with exposure or Lightroom - it's the light. The better shots are where you beautifully used available light - it soft and flattering. This one- direct flash - harsh and unflattering. I think you got the manual thing down - all these exposures look fine. Keep at it!

Thank you so much for the advice and encouragement - it's a long old process teaching yourself, and I don't think I'll ever get it all right lol! It's nice to know I'm heading in the right direction though!
