Quick Tip Tuesday – An Old Dog Learns a New Trick

Yup, even I can learn a new Photoshop or Elements trick. Any my lovely wife Jenn taught it to me!
While working, I am constantly creating new layers to do more work on. And more often than not I want the new layer under my current layer. Well Photoshop and Elements default behavior when you click the “Create New Layer” icon is to create the new layer above your current one. I would then have to click and drag the new layer below my current one.

No more! Just Ctrl-Click the new layer icon (Mac users: Command-Click) and Photoshop or Elements will create the new layer below your current one. What a time saver! (Note: this will not work if your current layer is the Background layer. More about why to eliminate the Background layer in another post.)

Till next week – Keep Scrappin’
