I thought I was seeing things… a whole page of little blue men! But no, it was just improperly color-balanced photos!
But it gave me a chance to give you something JUST FOR PSE USERS!! (whoohoo the crowd goes wild!)
I was going over the yearbook pages the students worked on, and found an entire page of little blue wrestlers. I needed a quick, easy way to teach the kids to fix them – and found a great little tool only available in PSE.
Go to Enhance>Adjust Color>Adjust Color for Skin Tone:

and you will get this dialog box:

notice there are no sliders on the lines! To get those, you have to move your cursor over a part of your image that should be skin colored, and click – you will see the image change, and you will have sliders!

The computer has taken it’s best guess as to how you’d like the color adjusted – you can fine tune by moving the sliders, or clicking on a different part of the image for a different result!

Super quick, super easy and works great!
PS users, you’ll have to take our Fix your Pix class to learn how to do this in Photoshop!
Now go find your own little blue (or red or orange or green) men!

NOW I see a reason to get PSE! Very cool.
Need little tool.
I wouldn’t mind if Adobe would put some of their cute little tools, such as this one, in PS. What a time saver it would be when you need a quick fix & didn’t really have time to play in PS.
Thanks for sharing Jenn.
This has to be the coolest tip!!!!! I can’t wait to try it!
This is such a great tip! Had to see with my own eyes, it works like a charm!
I use this one all of the time! I love it! Great tip!
[...] had a friend ask me for a tutorial to fix skin color in PSE9, and lo and behold it was in a Quick Tip Tuesday post from exactly 2 years ago! So I figured that would be a good post to revisit, since it’s clearly [...]
Great Tip! I use CS4 and it doesn’t have that quick fix … Elements made that so easy! Nice.
You rock! This worked great thanks
