As many of you know from Facebook and the news, Cleveland TN (where we live) was devastated by 5 tornadoes Wednesday. We were hit along with a huge section of the south from Alabama , Georgia, and Tennessee. There are 9 confirmed deaths in our county and more than 135 homes destroyed. We are safe. The storms, while scary, didn’t affect our section of town as much as the southern part. Sadly, two of my co-workers homes were destroyed, as was one of the girl scout leader’s home that Jenn works with. A family that was on Sam’s Robotics team lost everything
Jenn and I are taking a break from blogging for a little bit to be of any help that we can to our friends and community. Our friend Casi has some pictures posted here and here if you want to see.
Prayers for those suffering.

Big big hugs and prayers going out to all who were affected by this line of storms that swept from Texas throughout the Eastern half of the US. The loss of life and devastation I see on the news breaks my heart. It was only 2 years ago when a tornado destroyed my hometown and I witnessed the incredible spirit of giving and determination of those affected. I pray that the same result will be witnessed in your area too.
wow, I am so glad that you and your family are safe and experienced no damage. I am sad that people you know were affected tho. It is so hard to deal with that kind of loss, like just having a rug pulled out from under you. Your friends are lucky tho to have you two to pitch in and help!!! Lots of hugs your way.
a person always wonders when things like this happen, if you know anyone affected, so sorry, but thankful your family is ok. the pictures look so bad, we have tornadoes in Oklahoma, but haven’t gone through anything this bad. will be remembering everyone in your community and State.
I’m glad that your family is safe. My thoughts annd prayers are with you and everyone that was affected by these tornadoes!
I’m glad yawl are safe & sound. We were blessed as well because as the tornado moved east toward us it then moved upward & missed us. It was a very scary night for us. I’ve never seen such lightning before… it was like going to a disco with all those fast flashing lights. Such devastation & I heard the weatherman said this tornado was the worst ever because it just stayed & kept on going.
Thoughts & prayers to all!!!!
OMG, Stan, I had no idea your area was affected. I’m so awfully sorry – my heart goes out to all those whose lives were irrevocably changed. I hope your community not only heals but comes out stronger from this devastation.
Andrea @ The Creative Junkie´s last [type] ..A sleepy- southern town where the pace is so slow- I could conceivably age out of menopause while waiting for a red light
My prayers are with all those affected by these horrible tornados.
So thankful you and your family are ok. My sister and her family live in Alabama and 30 people in their town were killed. I do not know the number of homes damaged. They are out helping to clear debris, make sandwiches and hold a few hands (we’ve had some angst of our own here so I know how it feels). Keep plugging and know you’re in our prayers and hearts. God bless you and yours.
I am thankful that you and your family weathered the storms. We live just south of Birmingham and have seen the horror and sat helpless while watching live-feed of tornado after tornado hit community after community. I thank God that our community was spared (one long track EF-3 came within a few miles and miraculously dissipated).
There has been a real blessing in all of this. I have never seen so many people mobilize so many resources so quickly. This has been the largest outpouring of “brotherly love” that I’ve ever seen. There is not a person that I know that hasn’t donated time, labor, money, food, clothing, medical aid, shelter or anything else they could. I hope this outpouring has extended to my great home state of Tennessee!
God Bless and keep His Hand on His Children
